Core 8 Treatment Notes

Felt that there was a chaotic storm inside my being when receiving the core 8 part of the treatment. Using the core as a scanning device.

When I left I walked the neighborhood and noticed I was walking completely different. Knees bent and relaxed and legs and feet grounded. It felt really unusual but good.

As people approached during the walk I noticed I wasn’t afraid or tense as if my hypervigilance was gone. Felt soft and calm.

Got home and felt relaxed. Was singing and laughing and then laid down and went out for an hour and a half. Slept like a rock every night for a week with vivid dreams. Lots of nature and animals.

I was back and forth during the day with old self of worry and so focused on getting things done and the new self very surrendered, relaxed and not worried in the least.

That first week all my clients went out in their sessions right at the beginning of the session. The sessions were deep and profound and I could feel and see more in their systems than before my core 8 treatment.

I saw the Black Panther movie during the week. It really hit my open system. Was concerned. Once I brought the movie to my spiritual practice and got the greater meaning the residual in my system released.

I have been noticing great enhancement in my spiritual practice, core work, and equanimity and calm walking through daily life. There is an acceptance and surrender that is on a new level.

The universe has handed me some very challenging situations (about 5 big ones) the last month, I believe as a test to my new way of being. My old self with start its old pattern of worry and over responsibility, control and irritation. It will only last a short while until the new self kicks in and says. This is what is right now and then I proceed to accept and surrender. I ask for help and then proceed to do what needs to be done with a calm and serenity that is very new.

I have also noticed an ease in my relationships and also an ease with setting boundaries with others to preserve my health and well being. Different than what I used to do which is to accommodate what others needed at my expense.

Core and the Lymphatic System

It took me a fairly long time to figure out how to work with the lymph system via core principles. There are a few problems that keep the lymph system locked up. This effects everyone’s general well being significantly. The lymph is directly involved with all issues of health and healing. The lymph has lost its relationship with the CSF. Due to this, the lymph system is reluctant or unable to purge. Without the ability to purge, the lymph system remains congested, sluggish, burdened, toxic. This in turn effects the vital quality of the blood.

The key to unlocking the lymph system and its need to purge is to reestablish the rhythmic relationship between the CSF and the main lymph channels. The blood and lymph circulation is broken down in two cycles. The arterial circulation flows from the center to the periphery. The venous and lymph circulation flow form the periphery to the center. By repetitious full pauses done with the cisterna chyli, right lymphatic duct and the thoracic duct, the lymph system’s relationship with the CSF is re-established. It is now believed – by the lymph system itself because it is experiencing consciousness – to be safe for the lymph system to purge, and it actually purges itself. The finer aspects of what the CSF is conveying to the whole transforms the toxic nature of the lymph to these finer vibratory frequencies. If the toxic nature of the lymph is too great in quantity, then the toxins will be eliminated through the normal changes of elimination and according to the principles of acute healing. This healing opportunity is generally directed out via the skin. In addition to skin discharge, fever may be expressed if the nature of the toxicity can only be transformed via the purifying nature of the fire element.

When working on the anterior portion of the body, the cistern chili, right lymphatic duct and thoracic duct are repeatedly held in the open phase until electrolysis occurs and the electrical, tingling sensation coupled with stillness is perceived. The reason for holding in the open phase is because the open phase is moving from the periphery to the center everywhere on the anterior surface of the body. This movement of periphery to the center is in synch with the lymph and venous fluid circulation. When doing this it is not necessary to do anything with the vertical core. Why? Because the vertical core will automatically be in the open phase and holding between the feet every time you are holding the ducts in the open phase. The lymph drains when it is in synch with the vertical core not when it is out of synch with the vertical core.

From the position of the feet when doing the whole lymphatic system, the movement from the periphery to the center is the closing phase. In this case once again, it is not necessary to do anything with the vertical core as it will automatically be in the closed phase during the full pauses.

When working with the lymph on the lateral sides of the body the movement from the periphery to the center is the closed phase. When working on the posterior of the body the movement from the periphery to the center is the closed phase. Here is where people get confused. In order to encourage the lymph to purge we direct it to one of the main lymph channels. The lymph of the lower extremities is directed to the cisterna chyli. From there the lymph of the entire left side is directed to the thoracic duct. This includes the left side of the head and the left portion of the brain. The lymph circulation from the liver to the right side of the head (including the right brain) is handled through the right lymphatic duct. If you would like to assist the drainage of swollen lymph nodes in the right axillary you will make a connection between the right lymphatic duct and the right axillary. The movement of periphery to the center for the right lymphatic duct is the open phase, and the movement of periphery to the center for the right axillary is the closed phase. In order to effectively drain the right axillary, these two structures – the right axillary and the right lymphatic duct– will be put out of synch. Once again it is not necessary to do anything with the vertical core. As soon as the structures are put out of synch, the vertical core will automatically go still. The vertical core will remain in stillness until the structures are put back in synch. Then re-synch.

For those of you that are wondering and have had the training, the entire core triad (vertical core, core womb, core mother template) will go still when these structures are put out of synch. This phenomena will take place wherever the lymph is being put of of synch to enhance and encourage drainage. Why is this happening? Electrolysis takes place in core stillness. When the lymph structures are intentionally put out of synch the entire aspect of the core triad immediately assists and shortens the amount of time it takes to achieve electrolysis by becoming still. When the entire core triad is still electrolysis happens quickly.

Commentary on Energy in Matter and the Core Mother Template

Energy in MatterDr. Stone: “It is only the Energy in Matter that makes matter seem alive. When this energy escapes, only the shell is left….A cure constitutes reaching the life current within and reestablishing the free flow of energy. “

Robert Stevens comment: It is the presence of the soul within any organism that manifests life and consciousness. The soul has an energetic pattern as related to form. In core synchronism this pattern is known as the core mother template. This energetic pattern form is the template that sustains life manifesting as matter. When this energetic template pattern disengages from the physical form life functions of harmony, neutral balance, sustenance and consciousness cease. This is known as death.

In order for healing to take place any modality or therapist must be able to communicate directly with the energy giving life to matter. In core synchronism the core mother template is known to move in certain and specific patterns (see Five Cores Comprising the Core Template). A core therapist is able to check and correct these patterns. This correction ensures that the composite parts making up the whole of the organism are receiving optimal energy of life force. This correction reestablishes the free flow of energy. A core therapist is then able to establish communication with the core mother template to any structure of the whole organism. This increases the possibility of a cure. Dr. Stone also said: “Only God and Nature heal.” We as core therapists can only reestablish the free flow of energy to the best of our abilities. A cure is up to someone else.

I was once told by a medical doctor that the ability to palpate the vital force, soul, life force is impossible. I was very pleased to prove this impossibility possible. Dr. Stone obviously cultivated the same ability. The great news is that anyone and everyone possesses this palpation ability. It only takes concentration and practice and a bit of guidance.

A Commentary On Currents and Tidal Rhythms

Expansion, Contraction and NeutralDr. Stone: “The cerebrospinal fluid is the liquid medium for this life energy radiation, expansion and contraction. Where this is present, there is life and healing with normal function. Where this primary and essential life force is not acting in the body, there is obstruction, spasm, or stagnation and pain, like gears which clash instead of meshing in their operation.”

Robert Stevens Comment: Life energy expresses in three ways. There is a still neutral phase, a positive phase and a negative phase. The still neutral phase is the life current or, as known in core synchronism, the vertical core current. The still neutral center of all life expresses itself outward as the positive current. The positive current is expanding, moving outward from a point. The direction is a spiral current moving counterclockwise. The negative current is contracting, moving toward a point. The direction is a spiral current moving clockwise.

The cerebrospinal fluid is the liquid medium that conveys these cyclical tidal rhythms throughout the physical body. There is an expansive phase of the cerebrospinal fluid and a contractive phase. There is also a still phase. The inferior movement of the vertical core current propels the cerebrospinal fluid out of the ventricles within the brain for circulation throughout the physical body. The superior movement of the vertical core current represents the contracting phase of the lowering of the tidal volume of the cerebrospinal fluid. Rising tide equals irrigation of the field of the physical body. Lowering tide equals absorption of the cerebrospinal fluid of the physical body. The still phase is the quiet, calm state of fluid and life energy at rest. When this tidal fluctuation is operating unobstructed, health and healing is the norm. Each phase of expansion and contraction must be freely flowing in and out of the neutral center. If this triune movement is not flowing freely, we experience obstruction, spasm, stagnation and pain.

Commentary On Cerebrospinal Fluid as Conveyor of Sound and Light

Dr. Stone: “The cerebrospinal fluid seems to act as a storage field and a conveyor for the ultrasonic and the light energies. It bathes the spinal cord and is a reservoir for these finer essences, conducted by this fluidic media through all the fine nerve fibers as the first airy mind and life principle in the human body.”

Robert Stevens Comment: The cerebrospinal fluid is the physical conveyor of the soul qualities (frequencies) of sound and light. The frequency of the soul is moving so fast that these frequencies require a physical carrier to directly influence the physical body. The circulation of cerebrospinal fluid is the first and most important circulation in the physical body as it circulates the primary frequency and essence of life, the soul. This perhaps is why Dr. A.T. Still said, “The CSF is the highest known element in the body.” Dr. Still also made reference to the fine nerve fibers when he stated, “….all nerves drink from the waters of the brain…”

A Commentary on Dr. Stone’s Health Building

Dr Randolph Stone

Dr Randolph Stone

Selections from Health Building by Dr. Randolph Stone, with comments by Robert Stevens.

Dr. Stone: “The location of this energy is in the core of the brain and the spinal cord, where it exists as a highly vibrating intense etheric essence, of a neuter polarity as a molecular energy, which is the key to the entire structure and function of the body.”

Comment: This energy that Dr. Stone refers to is called the vertical core current in the Core Synchronism system. In the polarity system Dr. Stone refers to this as the ultra sonic core. The vertical core current is also referred to as the soul current, life force energy, life energy, spirit, dori. This current may be palpated at bregma and with practice anywhere in the body. Dr. Stone’s reference to neuter polarity means that the vertical core current is the neutral balance point of the whole organism. The vertical core current makes a spiraling clockwise motion. If the therapist is seated at the client’s head with the thumbs on bregma the vertical core current will be spiraling toward the client’s right hand. Every structure and function of the body must be in synch with this clockwise spiraling current to experience neutral balance. Neutral balance signifies a relationship of the whole with the mechanical and functional balance point. The vertical core current is located in the center of the brain and spinal cord. The current extends outside of the spinal cord to the center point between the feet where it intersects with the circular core current. The vertical core current is also the center current (central nadi) of the caduceus known as the sushumna. The nadis are also known as the etheric nervous system. The vertical core current is not a material structure. The vertical core current will not be observed in dissection. The vertical core current is pure energy. Its essence is comprised of the frequencies of sound and light. The vertical core current is the source consciousness for the whole organism. The removal of the vertical core current from the whole organism results in death.

Dr.

Comment: The frequency of the core current is too fast to directly influence the physical body. In order to influence the physical body there must be a physical substance that carries and circulates the frequencies of sound, light and consciousness. That physical substance is cerebrospinal fluid. Where this fluid circulates freely there is life and healing with normal function. Wherever this fluid is not circulating freely there will be obstruction, spasm, stagnation and pain. All parts of the whole must have a balanced relationship with the circulating cerebrospinal fluid. Any part that is out of synch with this fluid (and the current that moves the fluid) will act like a gear that is clashing instead of meshing in their operation. This clashing will result in inflammation which will produce stagnation, obstruction and pain. Reestablishing the relationship between the part or parts that are out of synch will result in normal balanced function and the inflammation and pain cycle will be broken. This is known as reestablishing a relationship with neutral balance. The current that moves the cerebrospinal fluid operates in two phases. A centrifugal phase and a centripetal phase. The centrifugal phase is expanding (positive). The centripetal phase is contracting (negative). Both phases are an expression of the neutral current to create the triune polarity of all life forms. The triune polarity is neutral, positive and negative.

Dr. Stone: “Life is a river of energy which must flow to keep clear and sweet in its function thru all the organisms of life’s expressions. Only when life’s currents are obstructed and become stagnant, then fermentation of wastes and tissues causes decay and germs. Their origin is in decomposition.”

Comment: Balance or health depends on the free flow of energy. The energy of life must flow freely throughout all the parts of the human organism. These parts include the mental/emotional body, the etheric body and the physical body. When these parts are stagnant they are out of tune with the life force currents. The longer the stagnation continues more parts of the whole are effected. The process of stagnation begins in the mental/emotional body and continues throughout the etheric body and the physical body unless resolved. Dr. Stone is making reference to what takes place in the physical terrain due to stagnation of the life currents throughout the whole organism. When the stagnation reaches the physical body the consciousness of life must find a way to eliminate the cause of the stagnation. The process the life consciousness chooses is one of digestion through micro organisms. As the stagnant material begins to ferment the microzyma feeding on the stagnant material grow into germs. The germs then continue to consume and digest the stagnant material. When the material is completely consumed the waste products will then be eliminated through the acute healing mechanism. This germ digestion process will eliminate the stagnation allowing the life currents to flow freely. The germs are not causative of any pathological condition. Their origin is in decomposition.

Dr. Stone: “So the primary effort of the healing art should be to get life to flow thru stagnant and obstructed areas and tissues of the body which cause pain. This is the natural way, from inside out and from the top down, as the centrifugal force operates. A cure constitutes reaching the life current within and reestablishing a free flow of its energy currents. Any thing short of this is but a relief measure.”

Comment: Symptoms are caused by life current obstruction. A cure is established when the life currents flow freely. The cure will generally flow from the superior to the inferior and from the internal to the external. This expression is known as the acute healing mechanism. The process depends on resonance between medicine and the life currents. There are many types of medicine. Any effective system of medicine must be able to communicate directly with the life currents to effect a cure. Anything short of this is palliative.

Dr. Stone: “What a patient fears, believes or thinks affects his health and can create energy blocks in the emotional field as well as in the mind pattern energy which governs the electromagnetic fields in their essence energy and sets the patterns for the positive and negative current flow.”

Comment: Energy blocks of the life currents begins within the mental/emotional body. This in turn will effect the etheric body which in turn will effect the physical body. The superior rules the inferior. As above, so below. The faster moving energy rules the slower moving energy. Thought moves faster then feeling, feeling moves faster then prana, prana moves faster then the electromagnetic spectrum. The life currents are moving faster then thought but when unable to move freely produce resistance which result in symptoms. This pattern deeper resistance will effect the free flowing of the cyclic positive and negative current flow. The positive and negative expressions will be prevented from flowing freely in and out of neutral. This loss of triune balance is expressed as mechanical confusion. Symptoms are a result of mechanical confusion on the mental/emotional, etheric and physical planes. Symptoms are known as the language of nature. Nature in this example being the conscious life currents. The purpose of symptoms is to capture our attention so some resolution might be sought. This is called getting the message that your life currents are stuck. Good Luck.

What Is Core Synchronism? Part Two

Robert Stevens (NTS, ND, CCSP)

The Core Synchronism Model of the Human Being

Lizards watching the Core

Lizards watching the Core

The first step in developing a comprehensive system of hand medicine is an accurate model of a human being. The physical is only one aspect of our makeup. A comprehensive model for the effective practice of hand medicine must include the etheric and the life principle itself. The presence of the soul allows us to experience the phenomenon known as life. The soul that is life is a drop of the Divine Ocean of Love. The soul is consciousness, harmony, peace, unconditional love, balance, wisdom. The soul is also beyond these concepts. The soul is the vital thread in the human organism.

Core hand medicine calls this vital thread the core current. It can be palpated on the crown of the head and with practice everywhere in the organism. The core current is the dynamic nonmaterial moving force of the whole. The current is responsible for the movement of cerebral spinal fluid out of the brain. This movement is an energetic phenomena. There is nothing physical about the core current. It is pure energy, pure consciousness, sound and light, wisdom, balance and is beyond all qualities and concepts. The most amazing thing is that we are able to palpate this current. We are able to communicate with this current. We are able to learn from this awesome nonlinear intelligence. Core Synchronism is a system of hand medicine that communicates and learns from the consciousness called life.

The phenomenon of energy in the physical world requires fluid to carry and circulate its presence. What is the fluid that carries and circulates the qualities of the core current? The cerebral spinal fluid (CSF). CSF is the physical carrier for the qualities of life (sound and light) to the whole physical organism. In order for energy to circulate on the physical level (physical body) it must have a physical carrier. The frequency of sound and light is too fast to have a direct influence on the slower moving frequency of the physical body.

Remember that the soul (consciousness and balance) must be present wherever life is to be experienced. In order for the soul to circulate and influence the physical it must have a physical fluid to act as a carrier. The health and balance of the whole physical body depends on the free circulation of CSF. CSF is the energetically stepped down, slower moving physical fluid that carries and circulates the qualities of life (sound and light) to the whole field (physical body). The circulation of CSF (fluid) is the circulation of the qualities (sound and light) of the core current (soul). The circulation of CSF (fluid) is the irrigation of the whole field (physical body) with the qualities (sound and light) of the core current (soul). The circulation and irrigation of CSF represents the highest and first nutritional need of the physical body for health and balance, The first need of every structure (energetic and physical) is a balanced relationship with the source of life, The core current in the Core Synchronism model represents the source of life and balance.

The movement of the cerebral spinal fluid is a rhythmic tidal phenomena. There is a production phase and absorption phase. When the production phase is active, all paired bones externally rotate. During the absorption phase all paired bones internally rotate. Trauma causes confusion within the skeletal system as to balanced movement in relationship to CSF. When a skeletal component is out of synch with CSF it is out of synch with the source of life. That component will call out for attention. The demand that is being made is for reconnection with the core and the rhythmic tide. This demand begins as inflammation. The longer the asynchronous movement remains, the more severe the symptoms. Human beings experience this as pain. The solution is to reconnect the out of synch part with the core current and its tidal rhythm. When the part is in synch, the inflammation cycle is broken and pain subsides. This is a very simple mechanical model. All parts must function smoothly with the direction of the core and core fluid. When a part or parts lose this smooth relationship with the core, it is not meshing with the central intelligence. We experience this as first inflammation and then pain. The effective practice of core hand medicine is based on this simple model. Rhythmic mechanical relationships with the core current and the core fluid results in physical harmony and balance. All structures of the physical body follow this simple mechanical model.

The physical body integrity depends on the integrity of the etheric body. The imbalances of the etheric body will have a direct influence on the physical body. The physical body is moving at a slower vibratory rate then the etheric body. The faster vibratory rate of the etheric body rules the slower vibratory rate of the physical body. Whatever is going on in the etheric body the physical body has no choice but to follow.

The below diagram is a model of the etheric body. (Click on it to enlarge.)

Etheric Body Opening Phase

The Etheric Body and its Components

The etheric body is made up of elemental energy. Ether, Air, Five, Water and Earth are the five elements comprising the human body. In the center of the etheric body model there is a spiraling current. The spiraling current is the core current. The current is palpated on the crown of the head where the parietal bones and frontal bone join. When the whole physical body is in balance with the core current and the CSF rhythmical tide, health and balance is experienced. All components making up the entire etheric body also have balanced movements. The core current’s balanced movement is a spiraling clockwise movement. From the top of the head this spiraling clockwise movement would be toward the right hand. If the core current becomes confused (due to trauma) and the movement changes to counterclockwise a person will quickly experience fatigue. The longer the core current remains out of synch the deeper the fatigue. It will make little difference how many hours a day the person will sleep the fatigue will continue. The longer the core current is moving counterclockwise the greater the compromise to their immune system.

All symptoms have a mechanical component. As a result of this growing fatigue, the immune system will begin to manifest symptoms of growing weakness. Chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia are two of the complex syndromes that will eventually manifest. The reversed core current is a slow mimic of dying. The life energy is literally escaping out the top of the head.

The very first thing that a core therapist will do is check the direction of spin of the core current. It is impossible to heal if the core current is reversed. All people that are exhibiting symptoms of chronic illness will have a reversed core current. Many symptoms will begin to disappear when the core current is stabilized and moving in the balanced clockwise direction.

The next portion of the etheric body is the caduceus. This is depicted in the model as snakes moving in a crisscrossing pattern from the base of the spine up to the ears. Each place that the snakes meet as they cross the mid line of the etheric body is known as a major chakra. The caduceus is an ancient symbol of the triune energy at the center of all living phenomena. The two snakes are symbolic representations of the movement of energy currents. The current on the right side of the center is known as the positive current. The current on the left side of the center is known as the negative current. The core current in the mid line is known on this etheric body level as the neural current.

In the science of yoga these three currents are known as sushumna (center, neutral), pingala (positive, right) and ida (negative, left). The core current represents the current of the soul, unconditional love, wisdom, balance, neutral. The neutral current projects out of itself and divides into two and gives birth to the positive current. The neutral and the positive now combine to give birth to the negative current. All living organisms have a triune nature. Lao -Tzu the ancient mystical sage of China put it this way: the one (core, neutral) gave birth to the two (positive). The two gave birth to the three (negative). And the three (neutral, positive, negative) gave birth to the ten thousands things. The caduceus represents the interplay of the neutral, positive and negative current dance playing out in the center of the etheric body.

The Chakras

When the positive and negative currents meet in the mid line of the body at the neutral core a spark or charge is created. This sparked charge creates a spiraling movement of energy. This spiraling spinning charged energy is known as a chakra. The interplay of the neutral, positive, and negative currents create the spinning wheels known as chakras. The chakras have balanced directional movement like all other parts of the etheric and physical body. Looking at the back of the body the major chakras in balance will be spinning clockwise. Looking at the front of the body those same major chakras will be spinning counterclockwise. Reversal of spin due to trauma will produce symptoms of disease.

The major chakras are located inside the physical body’s spinal cord. They are not physical structures but etheric structures and play an important role in our health. Each chakra is responsible for an elemental energy transfer to a certain portion of the etheric and physical body. Each chakra is responsible for overseeing certain functions in the etheric and physical body. For example, behind the belly button inside the spine is the location of the fire major chakra. The fire chakra is responsible for all digestive functions.

Food is energy at its core. Each type of food represents a type of energy. For example: a potato is earth, watermelon is water, wheat is fire and lemon is air. When the fire element is in balance and food can be completely digested an element will be released from that food. That element will nourish not only the elemental structures of the etheric body but the physical body as well. Chakras have a dual function: the energy of the mental/emotional body is moving at a very fast vibrational rate. In order for this energy to have an influence on the etheric and physical bodies it must be slowed down. The chakras act as transforming stations to slow down this fast moving mental/emotional energy. The chakras will slow the energy down so effectively that when the energy comes out the other side, so to speak, it forms the physical structures that appear to be solid. The energy of the physical body is moving so slowly that it seems to be a solid mass. This deceptively slowed down energy is due to the chakras transforming the energy or stepping (slowing) it down. When food is completely digested and the elemental structure at its core is liberated, the chakras will pick that energy back up and feed it back to the emotional body. Hence, the end product of all digested food is a feeling. The saying you are what you eat is really you feel what you eat.

So the chakras have many functions. They slow energy down from the fast moving mental/emotional level, circulate energy within the etheric body, oversee certain functions in the etheric body, slow energy down so it becomes the form of the physical body, oversee certain physical functions, collect digested food elemental energy and feed it back to the emotional body producing feeling.

When chakra spins, it also throws off a single elemental line of force known as a long current. Looking at the model, the long currents run on each side of the mid line of the etheric body. There are five on each side–one for each element. Their points of origin are the chakras. Hence the mid line long current is known as the ether long current, and its point of origin is the ether chakra. The next line out from the mid line is the air long current, the point of origin is the air chakra. The next line out is the fire long current. Its point of origin is the fire chakra. The next line out is the water long current. Its point of origin is the water chakra. The next line out is the earth long current. Its point of origin is the earth chakra. The long currents on the model have arrows pointing toward the inferior portion of the model. This is depicting one phase of their movement. The other phase of their movement would show the arrows pointing toward the superior portion of the model. The long currents are circulating the movement of energy throughout the etheric body.

The long currents also have pronounced impact on the physical body. The model also depicts green bands around the etheric body. These bands are known as the circular currents. These are the most external portion of the etheric body. In fact they actually wrap around the entire physical body. They act as an important part of our immune system. The circular currents act as a kind of barrier to forces that may effect our health coming from our external environment. The circular currents when in balance move in the same direction as the core current or clockwise. Trauma may cause the circular currents to reverse direction or stop moving all together. This will cause us to experience immune weaknesses.

The Soul and its Bodies

The human body is comprised of soul, mental, emotional, etheric and physical bodies. The soul is the source of life and consciousness. This life force must play an active role on all levels for the individual to experience health and balance. Soul in the language of Core Synchronism is known as the core current. This current is responsible for balance and movement on all levels. The mental body is a thinking machine. The receptivity of this thinking machine to the soul will produce thoughts of unconditional love, peace, harmony, service, yearning, helpfulness, discernment, etc. The emotional body is comprised of feelings. Receptivity of this feeling body to the soul will produce feelings of unconditional love, peace, harmony, etc. The etheric body is made up of organized elemental energies that unite and flow in patterns. The soul on this level is a current located in the center of these patterns. This central current is the origin of all elemental pattern energy of the etheric body. Without the presence of this central core current the possibility of flow, balance and harmony would not exist within the etheric body. The soul is present within the physical body as the core current and the core fluid. The circulation of cerebral spinal fluid (soul fluid) throughout the physical body is the circulation of the qualities (sound and light frequencies) of the soul. Once again the presence of the core current and the core fluid offer the possibility of harmony and balance throughout the physical body.

This model of the human being is a unified package. It is possible to speak of portions of the model as distinct, yet separation is not possible unless the soul departs from the package. Then dissolution will take place and certain aspects of the model will separate permanently. Until that event the parts are united by the presence and wisdom of the soul. If there is trauma in one part of the unified package, the whole will be effected. The portions of the package that are closest to the soul will generally be the first effected by trauma. Energetic subtlety is from the inside out. The order of subtlety is soul, mental, emotional, etheric and physical. The more subtle rules the less subtle. The more subtle is referred to as the superior. The superior rules the inferior energetically. The physical body is the least subtle portion of the unified package.

The Mechanics of Healing

Healing takes place within a relaxed state. There are levels of relaxation. The deeper the state of relaxation the deeper the healing possibility. The more subtle levels of the human being are only accessed by deeper states of relaxation and balance.

Lets look at the core mechanics of movement and balance from the etheric body to the physical body during the production phase of cerebral spinal fluid. The core current spins clockwise and moves inferior. The caduceus moves inferior. The chakras move posterior. The long currents move inferior. The circular currents move anterior to posterior. The brain moves anterior, posterior and inferior. All paired bones move lateral, posterior and inferior. In order for a human being to experience balance, harmony, freedom from pain and relaxation all of these movements must be synchronized.

When a person has pain some part or parts of this model is out of synch. Out of synch means disconnected from the source of balance or the core. When a part or parts are out of synch we experience pain. Reestablishing synchronistic relationship eliminates pain. Some asynchronous relationships are simple and some are complex. This means that one core treatment may not eliminate all pain. It may take several treatments to reestablish synch. Every treatment will induce a state of relaxation.

There are more complicated relationships in the etheric body that have not been covered here. Multiple traumas are often very complicated in terms of how deeply they have effected the physical and etheric bodies. Again, this may take several treatments to reestablish synch. As synch is established and becomes stable it is possible to reach deeper and deeper states of relaxation. When these states are achieved often the doors of access to the emotional and mental bodies are opened. Now the opportunity of healing the effects of trauma on these deeper more subtle levels are open. This is the level of the unconsciousness. It is here that the real burden of our trauma lives. These are the heavy burdens that we carry that we are not even aware. Deep states of relaxation have allowed us to travel this far. This is significant depth of healing.

Core hand medicine offers a sound mechanical model. A model that integrates the subtle anatomy and the physical anatomy. Core treats the whole human package. The manipulations used in core treatments are subtle. The touch of the hands during core sessions is very gentle. This does not mean the effect is not deeply penetrating. Core is not pathology specific. This means that core does not treat specific diseases. Core is energetic and fluid mechanics. Core hand medicine offers the wisdom of the soul the opportunity to heal the package. Core therapists are not healers. Your own core current is the healer. Your own inner wisdom and harmony are the healers. Core hand medicine is concentrating on energetic and fluid mechanics to foster an environment where healing can take place. Core is not pathology specific because all disease (including mental/emotional) has a mechanical aspect.

Core therapists are mechanics. Have you had a real tune up lately? A tune up that addresses the whole package? Make an appointment today with your local core mechanic and enjoy the new improved vitalized relaxed ride. Core really does work well for those tired and miserable rides!!!

The Soul of Hand Medicine

The Long Currents

The Long Currents comprised by the 5 elements within the body

The only source of life energy is Soul. Its qualities are sound and light. The Soul is a particle of Divinity, said to be immortal and to long for reunion with the Beloved Creator. The Soul is therefore pure consciousness, and whatever forms the Soul associates with express consciousness. If the Soul leaves any form, that form’s elements are liberated back to their source. The Bible expresses this as “ashes to ashes, dust to dust.” Hence the difference between a cadaver and a living body is that the Soul gives life to the latter and has left the former. Everything depends on Soul for life. The Soul is the essence of life and is the true healer.

Any system of therapy, to be effective, must access the energy of each part to which the Soul gives consciousness. Dr. Stone, founder of polarity therapy, said it this way: “Only God and Nature heals.” Only Soul, the source of Divinity within a form of life, is wise enough to carry out the mysterious process known as healing. Every form of life can heal if the law of healing is not interfered with but encouraged and respected.

God is Love, Love is God. The language of Love has no words. This healing by the Grace of Love must be experienced. Words will offer nothing here so the question may arise: “How does Nature heal?” Through what is known as the healing crisis.

Healing Crisis

Envision a ladder with four steps. The top step is known as acute. The second as sub-acute. The third as chronic. The bottom and last step as degenerative. The healing of Nature takes place on the first step only, the acute healing crisis. Acute implies a certain intensity and short duration. The energy or vitality of the Soul, known as the Life Force, increases to bring about a cleansing. The mental, emotional, etheric and physical bodies all heal via this cleansing healing process. Stopping this beneficent healing by Nature is termed suppression. Suppression ignores Nature’s movement toward homeostasis (balance). Adopting methods contrary to the movement of the Life Force is suppression. We heal from above down and inside out.

Symptoms are the language of Nature. Some examples of Nature’s acute symptoms are: inflammation, pain, fever, skin discharges, mucous discharges, cough, anger, sorrow, grief, etc. These symptoms are an expression of Nature’s desire to bring the whole organism closer to balance. Suppressing this movement toward balance goes against Nature’s Wisdom. If we successfully suppress the acute healing crisis we step down one rung of the ladder to the sub-acute stage. When Nature decides it is time to gift us with a healing crisis we now have to move from deeper within. The Life Force must now move with more energy to bring about a return to balance. This means that the language of Nature, symptoms, will be more severe. It will require more energy to express and heal because we are imbalanced on a deeper level. Now the symptoms may be pneumonia, bronchitis, more severe pain, more severe discharge via the skin, deeper mental/emotional patterns, etc.

If we effectively suppress the sub-acute healing crisis we will eventually drop down to the third rung of the ladder, chronic. Now we are living with our symptoms of dis-ease every day. Being diagnosed by the medical profession means acquiring a name of a dis-ease. Asthma, psoriasis, eczema, cancer, diabetes, chronic mental/emotional imbalances, etc. are all names associated with chronic imbalance. Chronic means long and drawn out. Those suffering with chronic illness live with their symptoms day in and day out. As time passes it is very possible that those with chronic illness will so identify with their illness that it may not be possible for them to see their life becoming free of these imbalances. The ability to have hope and faith is extremely challenging. Periodically the chronic symptoms will become acute. This is the Voice of Nature trying to heal.

If we successfully suppress the chronic we will eventually drop down to the last rung of the ladder, which is called degenerative. At this level the physical body is breaking down. The Soul or Life Force is leaving the organism. The fleshy suit of clothes is becoming unfit for habitation. The problem that faces someone in a chronic/degenerative state is this: is there enough vitality to sustain a healing crisis? It is often seen that the healing crisis is the method for the Soul to exit the physical body. This process is called death. Perhaps it is a healing. It is possible for the sub-acute, chronic and degenerative conditions to be healed but such healing will take place via step number one, the acute healing crisis. This method of the healing crisis appears to be a Law of Nature. As with any law when it is broken we pay the consequences. Nature is our friend. She is not trying to punish us when we have acute symptoms. She is attempting to bring our mental, emotional, etheric and physical life toward a better state of balance. The acute healing crisis is always constructive never destructive. It is each individual’s privilege to learn how to heal with Nature. Hippocrates stated, “Nature is the healer of all disease.”

The Soul and its Partners

The Mental Body

As the Soul moves toward life on this plane of existence, it takes on “partners.” The first partner that Soul gives consciousness to is the mental body. When the mental body is given consciousness, thought is generated. Thought is not possible without the consciousness of Soul. The Soul does not possess polarity or opposites. Its “identity” is one with the Creator. It is known as a ray of the creative Sun. But when the Soul gives the mental body consciousness, opposites are brought into being. Hence, a thought may be receptive to a higher principle such as compassion or to a lower principle such as hatred. Therefore, the mental body can be higher (receptive to Soul) or lower (receptive to ego, which is separateness). This polarity of the mental body is unique to human beings.

All of creation is a play of elemental energy. The five great elements are ether (space), air (wind), fire, water and earth. Human beings possess five active elements. The element of ether allows us to experience a higher/lower aspect of thought. This active element creates an environment where a thought such as “What is the purpose of life?” or “Why was I born?” can be generated. Animals with fewer active elements do not generate this type of thinking process. Their realm is the instinctual. This does not mean they do not feel, only that the “polarity of ego” is dormant. These forms of life are perfectly in tune with the law of healing. Animals and plants know that “only God and Nature heals.” Given ample opportunity they will perfectly surrender to the law of acute healing.

Why don’t human beings acknowledge and surrender to the law of healing? When the Soul gives consciousness to the mind, polarity is created. In the case of a human form, an ego is brought into consciousness. The ego is an identity of self, separate from a Creator or even Divine Soul. Hence, the ego is polarized. Its higher aspect may receive impulses of thought from the Soul such as compassion, harmony, kindness, unconditional love, etc., or may receive or generate thought particular to a lower aspect of mind under the illusion of separateness, such as hatred, anger, envy, revenge, grief, etc. A human being with this polarized ego can state, “ I don’t believe that only God and Nature heals.” An animal of so-called lesser stature can make no such declaration. It depends entirely on God and Nature for healing. As Paracelsus stated, “Nature is the teacher of science.”

In order for mind to be healed, it must be receptive to the impulses of the Soul. The lower ego must resonate with the higher ego and become receptive to the wisdom of the Soul. This is the deepest causative level of health loss. When we become entrapped within the “ruts of I” (the polarity of ego), the seeds of imbalance sprout throughout our levels of consciousness. Dr. Bach, founder of the Bach Flower system, stated it eloquently: “Disease is a kind of consolidation of a mental attitude and it is only necessary to treat the mood of a patient and the disease will disappear.” To be truly effective, any system of natural healing must be able to resonate on this deep, mental, causative level.

The Astral Body

The next partner the Soul takes on is the astral body. The astral body is a lower aspect of mind, a place where feeling is produced. “Lower aspect” in this respect means slower moving, of a lesser vibrating intensity as compared to thought. The astral body is also known as the emotional body. It is subject to the same polarity as the mind; hence, there are feelings of a higher and lower nature. For example, a feeling of unconditional love or a feeling of hatred. The feelings generated are one step closer to acting out in the physical plane. The elements are brought into play on this energetic level. Soul in association with mind on the causative level creates thought. Soul in association with mind on the astral level creates feeling, and the energy of sound/light (Soul qualities) on the same level becomes prana. Five pranas flow out of the astral level: ether prana, air prana, fire prana, water prana and earth prana. Prana is sound/light at a lesser vibratory intensity. The associations and directional flow of this prana create the etheric body.

The Etheric Body

The etheric body has energy centers known as chakras. A chakra is a spinning wheel of prana. There are major chakras and minor chakras. These chakras, coupled with the nadis (etheric nervous system), create the energetic flow system of the etheric body. A chakra slows energy down so Soul may manifest on a more physical level. Human beings have five active elements: ether, air, fire, water and earth. Cows, horses, deer, bears, etc. have four active elements: air, fire, water and earth. The ether element is dormant. Birds have three active elements: air, fire and water. Ether and earth are dormant. Insects have two active elements: fire and earth. Ether, air and water are dormant. Plants have one active element: water. Ether, air, fire and earth are dormant. Hence, the whole creation is an association of different pranas. All is energy.

The Physical Body

As the chakra slows down the prana, this energy changes into magnetic/electric currents. The slower energy moves, the more physical it becomes. This slower moving energy coming out of the chakras now becomes the physical body. Each chakra or elemental prana is responsible energetically for “overseeing” a physical system and that system’s function. For example, the air center (palpated at the middle of the sternum) is responsible energetically for the physical functions of respiration, circulation, the lungs and the heart.

The physical body is the double of the etheric body and all functions are dependent on movement of energy. On one level, health can be defined as a free movement of energy. Energy that is blocked produces symptoms (the language of Nature). The longer symptoms of blockage are experienced and expressed, the more dis-eased a person is. Dis-eases can be associated with the lack of energy movement, which produces discomfort. All dis-ease can be associated with a lack of freely flowing energy. Pathology is blocked energy. As Hahnemann stated, “There are no diseases, but sick people.”

Cure

A cure results when the energy blockage is released on the deepest possible level. When the energy blockage is released, the acute healing mechanism will eliminate the blockage through the appropriate channel of elimination. When the blockage on the emotional level becomes acute, it may be experienced as anger, resentment, bitterness, etc. The same blockage becoming acute on the physical level may be expressed as fever or an angry, red, raw rash. Fever, rash, pain, pimples, boils, mucous discharge, pus, loose stool, constipation, chills, cough, anger, grief, depression, sadness, etc. are expressions of acute healing. As Dr. Kuhne stated, “Dis-ease is the presence of foreign matter in the body.”

Acute healing is always constructive. This is the law of healing, designed by Nature: “Only God and Nature heals.” The law of healing is carried out through the acute expression of blocked energy. When the blocked energy begins to move, we experience symptoms of acute healing. If we disregard the law of Nature and suppress the acute expression, the symptoms of imbalance become more severe. As Dr. A. Just stated, “Nature does not err. Acute dis-eases are favorable healing crises and should be greeted with joy.”

Suppression disregards the wisdom of Nature’s acute healing mechanism. “We heal from above down and inside out.” We suppress from the outside in and from below to above. As an example, if I am suffering from a sore neck and take some form of natural therapeutic treatment which is successful, or in alignment with the law of acute healing, within a short period of time I may experience diarrhea and the neck pain is totally eliminated—the law of acute healing in action. The same neck pain may be suppressed with a strong allopathic pain medication and although the pain in the neck may also be totally eliminated over a period of time I may develop migraine headaches—the law of suppression in action. What would you rather have? A short, intense expression of diarrhea or a possible long drawn out repeated experience of migraine headaches?

Acute healing is Nature’s method. It is not a thing devised by the mind of human beings but a law observed throughout the natural world. We will both respect it and support it or suffer the consequences. “Only God and Nature heals” and it appears that only human beings are arrogant enough to act contrary to Nature. Sounds too simple? Consider Dr. Bach’s statement: “Let not the simplicity of this method deter you from its use, for you will find the further your researches advance, the greater you will realize the simplicity of all Creation.”

Core Synchronism, Cerebrospinal Fluid and the Life Force Current

The idea of Core Synchronism is very simple. I believe it to be in tune with the simplicity of Nature. On the physical level, cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF) becomes the physical carrier of the wisdom of the Soul. This fluid conveys the sound and light energies of the Soul throughout the physical body. CSF expresses the highest vibration rate and intelligence to the whole physical body. The whole physical body must accommodate this wave-like motion of the CSF or health is impaired. The founder of osteopathy, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, stated, “The cerebro-spinal fluid is the highest known element in the human body…. He who is able to reason will see that this great river of life must be tapped and the withering field irrigated at once or the harvest of health is forever lost.” The founder of polarity therapy, Dr. Randolph Stone, said, “The cerebro-spinal fluid seems to act as a storage field and a conveyor for the ultrasonic and the light energies. It bathes the spinal cord and is a reservoir for these finer essences, conducted by this fluidic media through all the fine nerve fibers as the first airy mind and life principle in the human body.”

The driving force behind the movement of CSF is the spiraling Life Force Current. “Delving into the choroid plexus, which is the part of the brain where the spinal fluid is manufactured, Drs. Louis B. Flexner and Robert D. Stichler of the Johns Hopkins Medical School have discovered that an electric current (as prana becomes more physical it may be measured as electrical/magnetic currents) drives this fluid out of the cell manufacturing plant and propels it into the spinal cord.” This Current may be palpated at the cranium location known as the anterior fontanel (in the infant) or bregma (in the adult). In health the Current spirals in a clockwise motion. If this Current is reversed, symptoms of dis-ease begin to manifest quickly. The health of our immune system is directly, intimately tied to the correct motion of the Life Current. When the Life Current leaves the physical body and the connection is severed, what we term death is experienced. The Life Current is wise beyond the intellect. We can learn to communicate with this wisdom and use it therapeutically.

Core Synchronism Level One

The whole physical body must synchronize with the wave-like motion of the CSF. Dr. Henry Lindlahr, father of natural therapeutics, stated that the first expression of acute healing is always inflammation. When a portion of the physical body loses its communication with the core fluid (CSF), an asynchronous motion is expressed. This asynchronous motion creates the environment for the expression of inflammation. Consider Dr. Stone: “The cerebro-spinal fluid is the liquid medium for the life energy radiation; expansion and contraction. Where this is present, there is life and healing with normal function. Where this primary and essential life force is not acting in the body, there is obstruction, spasm, or stagnation and pain, like gears which clash instead of meshing in their operation.” The cause of inflammation on the physical level can now be palpated and corrected. The longer the asynchronous motion is expressed the greater the symptoms of imbalance. Core Synchronism offers us, as body workers, the opportunity of treating inflammation at its causative level. When synchrony has been re-established, the body is now communicating with its core wisdom and the experience or expression of inflammation is not necessary.

A result of inflammation is pain. Inflammation is a result of a part being out of synch with the core fluid motion. Core Synchronism level one presents a treatment sequence designed to synchronize the entire physical body with the tidal movement of the core fluid.

Core Synchronism Level Two

Stability within the physical body depends on the integral balance of the etheric body. Core Synchronism level two emphasizes the energetic relationships of the etheric body with the fluid motion of the physical body. The following techniques are taught: reading the wave pulses (which are the five elemental pranas in their acute and chronic poles), balancing the major and minor chakra spins, reading and balancing the birth-body energetic elemental relationships, reading and balancing the energetic triad relationships, and a deeper palpatory understanding of the importance of the spine and nervous system in relationship to the etheric body and its elemental expression. These techniques and palpatory abilities help us to assist Nature in achieving harmonious fluid balance between the etheric and physical bodies. The whole of the subtle body field has to be integrated with the tidal motion of the core fluid to experience balance.

Core Synchronism Level Three

The stability of the body is also dependent upon the correct fluid relationships of all the brain parts. The membranes of the head, cranial and facial bones are all following the brain motion. If the brain segments are asynchronous, there is no stability possible in these other structures.

Synchronistic balance is from the inside out. As Dr. Andrew Taylor Still states, “…all nerves drink from the waters of the brain….” If the brain is confused (asynchronous) with the core current, core fluid and its own segments one may only imagine what havoc is presented to all other structures.

Like healing, balance is from the inside out. This havoc of the asynchronous brain is not confined to the physical body but also impacts dramatically the mental and emotional bodies. Core Synchronism level three will address the synchronistic motion of the brain as the primary motion for stability within the cranial system. Many stubborn mental/emotional/etheric/physical complaints may be related to asynchronous brain motion. Brain palpation is a very exciting journey, which will lead us to a deeper understanding of fluid motion and its importance in manifesting health. As our palpation abilities grow we will be able to perceive deeper into our client. Is it possible to perceive the habitual energetic patterns created by thought and feeling? What does a client experience when these patterns are released? What happens to the trauma experienced at birth and what is its relationship to the adult structure and function? How intelligent is the Life Current? Is the Life Current able to point out unusual relationships of blockage? Is it possible to palpate the entire energetic model that Dr. Stone has left us? Do our developing palpation skills lead us into past lives? Core Synchronism level three answers all these questions and more.

Core Synchronism Level Four

As our practice of core deepens we continue to feel deeper into the physical and energetic parts that comprise the human being. Core Synchronism level four teaches six additional wave pulse readings. With these we are able to understand elemental imbalance more thoroughly. Correcting these imbalances has a strong stabilizing effect. These corrections also open deeper access to the unconscious field. Level four also teaches how to balance the entire endocrine chain and addresses the need for deeper understanding of what the functional still-point is and why it is the goal of all core treatments.

Core Synchronism Level Five

Core Synchronism level five teaches how all elements are working together within each of the minor and major chakras. This level opens up an elegant approach to deeper balancing. With this palpatory knowledge a therapist is able to make deep elemental relationships with any structure.

Core Synchronism Level Six

Core Synchronism level six completes the system. Level six teaches the core neutral template. With this palpatory knowledge we are able to treat any condition. All previous levels are integrated into level six. This integration completes the circle of the Core Synchronism system of hand medicine. Upon completion of level six students are certified as Core Synchronism practitioners.

There appears to be no end to how far one may develop palpatory abilities. Language really doesn’t allow for clear explanation of Core Synchronism. Experience and much practice is the key to understanding. Once again these techniques are very simple but require a dedicated, repetitive practice. Dr. Sutherland, founder of the cranial concept, said it this way: “We must learn to work with thinking fingers.” I say, “Repetition is the spice of skill.”

Core Synchronism is an unfolding of my understanding of the philosophy of natural therapeutics, philosophy of classical homeopathy, polarity therapy, cranial osteopathy and Dr. Bach’s work with Flowers. I consider Core to be the next step of application that has come out of my understanding of the above. The system is very simple yet has taken many years to work out. I owe an unpayable debt to those visionary pioneers that have dedicated their lives to their visions. It is a somewhat slow process to train therapists that feel confident to teach Core Synchronism. At the present time there is a small group of dedicated, very competent therapists willing and able to teach. Training teachers of core is progressing on a regular basis. My concern is one of quality, not quantity. If you would like me, along with an assistant or certified Core teachers, to teach a workshop in your area please contact me at:

or 505-266-5265.

Core Synchronism is ongoing in its application, understanding and development. Discoveries that have been made and that are currently being made have been integrated into the six levels of classes. Although Core is taught in six levels it is practiced as one. The development of our palpation skills allows us to eventually feel all levels of relationship as one. This unfolding of palpation ability and understanding cannot be rushed.

The name Core Synchronism, all written material and charts are all protected by copyright. Anyone desiring to reproduce or use this material in any fashion must have the written permission of the author, Robert Stevens. It is my wish that all levels of Core Synchronism be taught only by instructors certified directly by myself.

Short History of Medicine

“Only God and Nature Heal”

Nature Cure Hospital

Robert and Debra Stevens, Don Cornwell and Roxanne Galle outside a Nature Cure Hospital in Punjab

The use of nature to heal began in the dawn of history. Primitive human beings thought illness was a form of punishment sent by the Gods. They created ceremonies to placate their Gods so that their suffering would berelieved. Eventually gifted members of these communities turned to nature for answers. They observed the effect of elemental, environmental, seasonal, emotional, cyclical and climatic changes on the members of their community. They also watched how wild animals used their instincts to heal themselves. These early observations and practices formed the basis for a simple yet powerful system of healing that became known as Nature Cure. Healing with nature was the only curative means available to humanity for thousands of years.

Indigenous peoples accumulated a treasure of healing knowledge, wisdom and experience. Healers passed down this treasure through the generations through long years of apprenticeship to worthy pupils. When we look at the history of healing we can only imagine how much of this priceless knowledge has been lost with the advent of modern life and its disruptive effect on native cultures.

Health can be defined as our ability to love unconditionally. When we look at what is happening in the world we realize how far most of the human race is from enjoying a simple happy natural existence. The need of natural healing practices has never been greater.

Naturopathic systems such as hydrotherapy, massage therapy, hygiene, corrective exercise, herbalism, dietetics, sun and air baths, etc., were valued by the ancient Greeks, Romans and Chinese as well as other cultures closer to home, the ancient Indian civilizations of the Americas.

Hippocrates, known as the “Father of Modern Medicine”, was a Naturopath and the most celebrated physician of antiquity. He said, “Nature is the healer of all disease” and “let foods be your medicine and your medicine your foods.” Even though he achieved much success working in cooperation with Nature’s healing processes, he did not hesitate to call attention to the instances where he succeeded only partly or failed entirely, stating, “the physician is only the servant of Nature.”

The history of Nature Cure in America began with native Americans who had been practicing long before the advent of Naturopathy in Europe. Ancient Mayans and Incas had also developed the science and art of natural healing to the highest degree at the time when Europe was still inhabited by cave dwellers. The white settlers of America may not have survived were it not for the knowledge of the natives regarding nature cure. This rich healing culture was lost during European invasions of the Americas and it was not until the beginning of the twentieth century that the European form of Nature Cure was introduced into the United States of America.

Even so, this practice of pure nature cure is practically extinct in America today. There are no schools of pure nature cure training available to the public nor are there nature cure hospitals available for the care and instruction of those who suffer from illness.

Dr. Robert Wood, one of the last pure nature cure doctors who practiced in this country, defines nature cure thus:

“Nature cure teaches that the primary cause of weakness and disease is the disobedience of the Laws of Nature. Proper nutrition, will answer a good many health questions along with a natural regulation of breathing fresh air, cleanliness, dressing in comfortable clothes, resting, and mental composure. Medicines should be in conformity with the constructive principles in nature and not injurious or destructive to the human organism. The methods of treatment are supplying the blood with its natural constituents in the right proportions and promoting the elimination of waste materials and poisons without in any way injuring the human body.”

Nature Cure uses the forces of nature to heal. The medicines of the nature cure physician or naturopath are the five elements of nature – ether, air, fire, water and earth.

Dr. Henry Lindlhar, MD, one of the small group of gifted physicians that introduced the European system of nature cure to America, and Dr. Robert Wood’s teacher, is known as the father of Natural Therapeutics. Dr. Lindlhar developed and directed a school of natural therapeutics and a sanitarium in Chicago, Illinois. Lindlhar expanded the scope of theory/practice evolving nature cure into natural therapeutics. His work is the foundation for the present day practice of naturopathy.

NATURAL THERAPEUTICS

What is the difference between nature cure and natural therapeutics? Dr. Lindlhar added non-injurious herbal preparations and well-chosen homeopathic remedies based on the principles of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, founder of homeopathy, to pure nature cure. He also integrated the advances being made in massage, chiropractic, osteopathic, dietetics, and exercise, and included iridology and other forms of natural diagnosis into the practice of natural therapeutics. Most importantly, he developed a philosophical system mapping the laws and methodology of how nature actually heals.

HEALING OPPORTUNITY

According to Dr. Lindlhar, nature heals through what is known as the healing crisis. If we imagine a ladder with four steps, and designated the top step as the acute or inflammatory stage of symptomatic illness, the second lower step would represent a progression to the sub-acute stage and the third lower step, a further development to the chronic stage. The bottom and last step would be the degenerative stage of illness that cannot usually be cured.

When healing takes place on the first step, during the acute healing opportunity, it occurs with intensity over a short period of time. The energy, vitality or “life force” of the individual increases until it is able to bring about this restorative natural cleansing and rejuvenation. The mental, emotional, etheric and physical bodies are also able to heal during this acute process. Whenever treatment inhibits this beneficent process, it is termed suppression because it is contrary to the movement of the “life force” toward healthy balanced function of the inner ecology of the individual.

NATURE’S SYMPTOMS

Some examples of nature’s acute symptoms are: inflammation, pain, fever, skin discharges, mucous discharges, cough, anger, sorrow, grief, etc. These symptoms are an expression of nature’s desire to bring the whole organism closer to balance. Symptoms are the language of nature guiding us to take appropriate cleansing and rejuvenative actions. Suppressing this movement toward balance goes against nature’s wisdom. If we successfully suppress the acute healing crisis we step down one rung of the ladder to the sub-acute stage.

The “life force” must access more energy to bring about a return to balance from the sub acute stage. This means that the language of nature – the symptoms – will be more severe. Symptoms at this stage will be pneumonia, bronchitis, more severe pain, discharge via the skin, deeper mental/emotional patterns, etc. If we effectively suppress the sub-acute healing crisis we eventually drop down to the third rung of the ladder, the chronic illness.

Chronic means long and drawn out. Those suffering with chronic illness live with their symptoms day in and day out. The return from chronic illness to health requires more time, energy and effort. Many chronically ill patients become so identified with their illness that they cannot imagine that their life can become free of these conditions. The medical profession diagnoses chronic conditions with names like asthma, psoriasis, chronic fatigue, cancer, diabetes, and clinical mental/emotional conditions such as anxiety or depression, etc. Periodically chronic symptoms become acute. This is the voice of nature trying to heal and the moment of opportunity that nature cure physician wants to support.

If we successfully suppress the chronic we will eventually drop down to the last rung of the ladder which is called degenerative. At this level the physical body is breaking down. The “life force” is leaving the organism and the body is becoming unfit for habitation. The problem that faces someone in the degenerative state is this: is there enough vitality to sustain a healing crisis? In this stage the healing crisis can also be the means for the life force to exit the physical body during the process called death. This release from suffering is the final healing from the degenerative stage.

It is possible for the sub-acute, chronic and degenerative conditions to be healed but such healing will take place via step number one, the acute healing crisis. This method of the healing crisis appears to be a law of nature. As with any law, when we break it we pay the consequences.

Nature is our friend. She is not trying to punish us when we have acute symptoms. She is attempting to bring our mental, emotional, etheric and physical life toward a better state of balance. The acute healing crisis is always constructive never destructive. It is each individual’s right and privilege to learn how to heal with nature.

Hippocrates stated, “Nature is the healer of all disease.”

The German physician and naturalist Paracelsus stated, “Nature is the teacher of Science.” When did this change? What discovery or theory precipitated this radical move away from nature as a benevolent teacher?

GERMS NEED FOOD

Antoine Bechamp (1816 -1908) was a contemporary of Louis Pasteur. Bechamp observed impartially that cells and germs are not the smallest individual living organisms, as taught by Pasteur and his followers, but they are in turn made up of infinitely more minute living beings which he named microzyma or “minute ferment bodies”.

The physical characteristics and vital activities of cells and germs depend upon the soil in which their microzyma feed, grow and multiply. Thus microzyma, growing in the soil of procreative germ plasma, develop into the normal, permanent, specialized cells of the living vegetable, animal and human organism. The same microzyma feeding on morbid materials and systemic poisons in these living bodies develop into bacteria and parasites.

FIRST PRINCIPLE OF NATURE CURE

The first and most basic principle of nature cure is that all forms of disease are due to the same cause, namely, the accumulation of waste materials and bodily refuse in the system which nature cure physicians call morbidity.

Waste materials in a healthy individual are usually removed from the system through the organs of elimination. However, in the diseased person, they are steadily piling up in the body through years of faulty habits of living such as wrong feeding, improper care of the body and habits contributing to enervation and nervous exhaustion such as worry, overwork and excesses. Thus, the only true way to cure disease is to enable the system to throw off toxic accumulation so that it may return to natural functions. All natural treatments are directed towards this end.

How does nature handle the morbidity or accumulated actions of living outside the laws of Nature in a diseased person? When the morbidity reaches an intolerable level, nature seeks to restore balance by creating the healing crisis.

Nature cure masters recognize that food quality depends on the soil that it is grown in. This is also true within the human body where the soil is in the blood and lymph.

If the blood and lymph are clean the vitality or life force circulates freely. It is also important to remember that the morbidity of thoughts and feelings also translate into morbidity of blood and lymph via the nervous system.

When our blood and lymph becomes thick with viscous, sticky material it prevents our full experience of vitality and we experience disease. As the morbid blood and lymph circulate through the spleen and the lymph nodules it is condensed into leucocytes.which accumulate in weaker areas of the body, obstruct normal function and offer a better soil for the digestive activities of the microzyma.

Inflammation begins with obstruction in the capillary circulation caused by the leucocytes and other morbid matter. Stagnation causes them to disorganize and putrefy. The morbid soil develops the microzyma of the normal cells into various kinds of “disease germs” or bacteria. The leucocytes, or rather the condensed particles of morbidity, disintegrate into pus. All life forms experience this as a healing opportunity during the acute phase.

Why must elimination must take the form of inflammation? The organs of elimination can only handle waste materials of comparatively simple chemical composition. The skin eliminates gases, water and salts. The kidneys eliminate urea, indican and a few other end products. The intestines eliminate little else but undigested food wastes.

Because morbidity is composed of chemically highly complex substances, it cannot be released through the normal organs of elimination. Morbid substances must first be broken down into simple compounds, chemically adapted for elimination through these organs, and this decomposition is accomplished by inflammation and germ activity. Therefore, the acute healing crisis is the result of a purifying, healing effort of nature! This is the profound truth of nature cure.

MEDICAL TREATMENT BASED ON KILLING GERMS

Now, we return to the fork in the road of medical history. Antoine Bechamp’s profound revelations were superseded by the theories of Louis Pasteur and Metchnikoff, which fully justified the suppressive poisonous treatment of the allopathic school of medicine.

Pasteur compared the human body to a barrel of beer and pronounced it, like that beverage, at the mercy of extraneous organisms. As these produce good or bad beer – a liquid diseased, as it were, or healthy – so on entering animal bodies microorganisms create disease, each after its own order.

Professor Metchnikoff’s theory of phagocytosis and the alleged discovery of “obsonins” or natural antitioxins in the blood by Sir Almroth Wright and Dr. Bulloch, furnished the medical profession with a delightfully simple theory as to the origin of disease comprehensible to the least intelligent.

Modern medical science is built upon the germ theory as the cause of disease and its treatment. Since the microscope has revealed the presence of and seemingly pernicious activity of certain microorganisms in connection with certain diseases, it has been assumed that bacteria are the direct primary causes of such diseases.

Medicine bases its prophylaxis and treatment upon the theory that human beings are at the mercy of invaders. Health and disease, life and death, are largely matters of accident over which we have no control. Its slogan is “kill the bacteria and the disease is cured.” The language of allopathic medicine is the language of war.

NATURE CURE ELIMINATES THE CAUSE OF GERMS

The primary cause of germ activity is the morbid soil in which bacteria breed and multiply. Basing the practice of natural therapeutics on this fundamental truth, there is no need to kill any germ with various poisonous drugs, vaccines, serums and anti-toxins, but instead to make sound efforts through natural ways of living and natural methods of treatment to purify the organism of morbidity which furnish the soil for the development and multiplication of disease germs. Unfortunately, society has traveled along way from these natural truths.

Pasteur’s erroneous theory of disease has penetrated the consciousness of modern life. Medical science no longer questions the foundation upon which it rests. As a result the true activities of nature in relation to our health go unrecognized by most. The cost of health care has sky rocketed. Thousands cannot afford health insurance. Chronic degenerative diseases are widespread and growing. Modern medicine is failing at healing disease.

Consider the words of Gandhi:

“It is worth considering why we take up the profession of medicine. It is certainly not for the purpose of serving humanity. We become doctors so that we may obtain honors and riches. I have endeavored to show that there is no real service of humanity in the profession, and that it is injurious to mankind. Doctors make a show of their knowledge, and charge exorbitant fees. Their preparations, which are intrinsically worth a few pence, cost shillings. The populace, in its credulity and in the hope of ridding itself of some disease, allows itself to be cheated. Are not quacks then better than the doctors who put on an air of humanness? “

“The Nature Cure doctor does not “sell a cure” to the patient. The patient is taught the right way of living in his or her own home, which not only cures of some particular ailment but also teaches the method of prevention of illness in the future. The ordinary doctor is interested mostly in the study of disease.”

“The Nature Cure physician is interested in the study of health not disease. His or her real interest begins where that of the ordinary doctor ends; the eradication of the patient’s ailment under Nature Cure marks only the beginning of a way of life in which there is no room for illness or disease. Nature Cure is thus a way of life, not a course of “treatment”. We do not claim that Nature Cure can cure all disease. No system of medicine can do that or else we should all be immortals. Nature Cure means a change for the better in one’s outlook on life itself. It means regulation of one’s life in accordance with the laws of health.”

Collective suffering is forcing many to seek help from the ancient source of nature. When both physicians and clients understand that the power to cure disease lies within the patient’s own body, they choose to work with and support the return to normal healthy function by utilizing the philosophy of nature cure in action.

Consider these thoughts of the great medical visionary Dr. Hahnemann:

“There are no diseases, only sick people.”

“Nature will provide an infinite number of remedies to meet all occasions that might arise.”

In conclusion, the true foundation of nature cure, natural therapeutics and naturopathy is found in this simple statement,

“Only God and Nature heal.”
